I want more

Date:December 23, 2009
Pros: Great Aroma, High Quality, Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile
"Some people may think this is bark and pods, but it takes a couple of times to get it just the way you want it. At first I tried it with water and it was good and spicy. I think I put too much loose leaf in the strainer so it was on the hot spicy end of my liking. Then I tried it conservatively with just a scoop of the leaf in the strainer using hot skim milk and agave the second time. By using the one scoop and allowing it to steep longer the flavor develops more. Also my teacup is very large about 31/2 cups to 4 cups volume. And WOW I found exactly the way I like it. It tastes like a nice chai tea evenly balanced with all the flavors. You can taste the spice and the chocolate overtones. My only sadness is that I didn't order enough and will definitely get a one pound bag. This is the perfect tea for the cold winter nights and will most positively warm you up and bring memories of holiday gone by. By a one pound bag and save. Don't be too concerned with all the bark and pods. The soaking of the pieces of the bark like cinnamon sticks and the pods and whole clove pieces is what gives the flavor to the tea. I would never have thought of doing a tea like this, but it is soooo good and tasty and brings a fresh approach as to how tea is made. Enjoy"

Spicy chai!

Date:November 22, 2012
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Whole Leaf Tea, Unique Flavor Profile
"At first I did not like this tea. The spicy smell and kick to the back of your throat didn't work for me. But I tried it again last night with rock sugar and coconut creamer and I enjoyed that cup very much! Not a tea I like straight, but definitely is enhanced with sugar and cream."

Prefer for blending with other teas to as is

Date:March 2, 2012
Pros: Great Aroma, Unique Flavor Profile
Cons: potentially too strong
"Appearance: large chunks of whole spices. Liquor: brown with sedimentation. Smell: very strong and spicy. Taste: I don’t actually get the chocolate taste very much with this one. It is a lovely, warm spice blend, with strong cinnamon and cardamom flavors. Standing on it’s own, this is a 5/10. What I actually like to do with this one, though, is blend it with other teas and tisanes. Blended with rooibos is really good, and it’s a nice way of bringing variety to an otherwise nondescript black. As a blending agent, give this a 7/10."

Unique and Tasty

Date:October 27, 2011
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile
Cons: Prefer Tea Pouches, Flat
"I really like this tea. It took a little getting used to as it was not what I expected. After a few cups, I found that I really enjoyed drinking this tea. The aroma is spectacular, although the actual taste is not nearly so. Nonetheless, I enjoy this more and more as I drink it, and will buy it again. Please note that I drink my tea hot, and without cream or sugar."

Pros: Great Aroma, High Quality, Whole Leaf Tea, Unique Flavor Profile
"My friends and I tried this the other day and were utterly blown away by the aromas wafting up from our cups. The taste was delicious as well. We really loved the spices in this mix and I will look into purchasing the large pack after I finish the small one."

Love THIS

Date:September 1, 2011
Pros: Great Aroma, High Quality, Whole Leaf Tea
"This is one of my favorite teas. I drink it most nights before I go to bed. It has a great flavor and is very mellow, without caffeine it is a great nighttime tea. I also keep some at work for those stressful afternoons that I need a pick-me-up."

One of my favs

Date:July 27, 2011
Pros: High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile
"Top two of the 5 teas in my first order from MLeaf. This tea reminds me of what you sometimes get in Ethiopian restaraunts, which I'd been searching for. Great flavor. Could be a wee bit stronger, but that's for my taste."

My afternoon chai

Date:February 4, 2011
Pros: Great Aroma, Unique Flavor Profile
Cons: Weak
"This makes a great afternoon chai latte. It's a little weak without the steamed milk (or soy milk), but I love the spice flavors. Sometimes I'll add a little Mayan Chocolate Truffle to kick it up a bit. The two complement each other quite well."

Absolutely DELICIOUS!!!!

Date:December 20, 2010
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Whole Leaf Tea, Unique Flavor Profile
"I enjoyed this absolutely delicious tea last night by boiling it in a mixture of water and milk; a traditional Indian Masala Chai preparation. I was not sure how long it would take for the spices to release their flavors so I tasted the tea every couple of minutes and found that 10-15 minutes of boiling was perfect (longer than I had expected). I have tried many ML teas and this is one I have been searching for. It has the most delicious spicy notes and the perfect amount of cinnamon and cardamom. It may have been the best Chai Latte I have ever had!!!"

I tried to like, really I did!

Date:October 29, 2010
Cons: too much cloves; not enough chocolate.
"But it is much too heavy on the cloves and not chocolatey enough. However, my stepdaughter loves it. She also likes chai, and I don't. If you don't like cloves, this is not for you."

Most excellent!

Date:October 27, 2010
Pros: Great Aroma, Whole Leaf Tea, Unique Flavor Profile
"Have been buying this tea for over a year now ever since I got some as a gift. Can't say enough good about this tea. It's just a tasty and savory scented beverage. It's my nightly ritual, and when I make tea for someone I always make this. (Note, I use the loose tea pouches/envelopes and then add some of my home grown stevia... Yummo, with a capital "Y")"

Very disappointing

Date:September 13, 2010
Pros: Unique Flavor Profile
Cons: Prefer Tea Pouches, Flat, Weak
"I usually love chai tea and this had a lot of the same ingredients so I tried it. I ended up throwing it out. I had a really strange flavor to it. I really prefer the tea pouches because I think that you get a more consistent blend of tea from pouch to pouch than you do with the loose tea. esp.
loose teas that have a lot of different ingredients. It was very disappointing because I really love the individual ingredients in this tea.

Delicious Spicy Tea

Date:August 4, 2010
Pros: Great Aroma, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile
"I tried this as part of the chocolate truffle tea sampler and it turned out to be my favorite. The aroma is heavenly and the tea is delicious and spicy. It reminds me of gingerbread. You may have to experiment with the amount of tea and steeping time in order to get it good and strong. I tried about 1 1/2 tbs tablespoons for 5 minutes in a standard mug. Also, if you like sweet tea you will have to add a little honey or sugar. This tea is not very sweet on its own, even with the chocolate ingredient. The chocolate is barely detectable except to add a little uniqueness to the flavor."

"I didn't love this. I was expecting something a little richer - perhaps I made a mistake in the brewing process? I will probably use it for mulled cider in the fall."
