Customer Reviews for TeaTop Brew Travel Mug

TeaTop Brew Travel Mug

Our TeaTop Brew Travel Mug is good to go. You no longer have to drink over-brewed tea. Featuring the patented TeaTop lid, this brew mug is a “traveling teapot” perfect for enjoying whole leaf Tea Pouches. The brewing system is simple: Fold the tea tag in half and thread through the underside of the slit on the lid. Once the brew time indicated on the tea tag is reached, just pull up on the string. This squeezes the oils of the Tea Pouch into the infused beverage below and pulls the spent Tea Pouch up to rest in a domed area. You never have to drink over-infused tea again. The body is crafted of double-walled stainless steel keeping your tea hot, while staying cool to the touch. Please see "Brew" for a user guide.     • TeaTop Brew mug holds 12 oz.     • Made of grade 304 or standard 18/8 stainless steel

Not Really a Travel Mug

Date:April 27, 2013
Cons: not a sealed travel mug
"I bought this mug, and I expected it to seal like my other travel mugs, but it does not. If it tips over in your car, it will allow tea to flow out. It does have a nice feature in that it does allow you to pull your tea bag out of the hot water once the tea is brewed, but be sure to keep it upright!"

Loved the design. Very poor construction.

Date:March 14, 2013
Pros: good design
Cons: poor construction
"After only a couple of uses, the bottom started leaking. I loved the design and it worked well with regular square tea bags. I would buy this again if I had a guarantee that it wouldn't leak."

Did not last - poor quality

Date:January 17, 2013
"We bought several of these mugs and they are the only thing I have not liked from this store. The metal separated from the liner, the bottom broke, the top leaked. I had to throw each away within a few months."

Not a good product

Date:November 22, 2012
Cons: not a good travel mug, does not keep tea hot
"I bought this a while ago and only used it a few times. Water gets in between the liner and the cup - a LOT of water! - every time it's washed and there's no way to get it out that I could find. Even more annoying - the lid doesn't stay on! It's so loose a fit it might as well not be there. The slightest movement or tap sends it flying off! It fit OK when I first got it, not really snug but it would stay on, but that changed after a couple of uses.
I was really surprised this got so many good reviews. Maybe they don't all come out of the factory the same. I was going to send it back for a refund, got it partially packed up but put it aside and forgot about it. Don't know if they would take it back now, it's been so long since I bought it."

The lid is the star here, not the mug

Date:November 6, 2012
"The lid is the thing that I like about this mug. It holds the tea bag up out of the water nicely once brewing is complete and has a nice well at the drinking side.It will also accommodate a straw and fits nicely on the mug. It's a slide-on lid.
I don't like the stainless steel finish of the mug itself. It shows every water mark or fingerprint and looks dirty all of the time even when washed and wiped dry. The shape of the mug is nice enough."

A cheap mug

Date:May 5, 2012
Cons: Weak
"It is broken after I have used only once. I have no idea how, but the tea leaks out from the bottom of it. That's terrible."

Didn't like this Travel Mug

Date:February 4, 2012
"Let me first state that I bought the JOEmoXL Stainless Loose Tea Travel Mug - 16 oz. mug because this one was out of stock and I needed something. Now that I have the TeaTop Brew Travel Mug, I don't like it.
I bought it specifically to use at work so I didn't have to mess with loose leaf tea. But after trying the mug a few times I found that if the used tea bag is sitting in the top of the mug as it is designed, then there is no air flow to help the tea to come out as you drink it. Also, the tea cools down too quickly for me. I like to enjoy to have the ability to enjoy the tea for a couple of hours. And this mug just doesn't do it for me.
If you want a great mug try the other one I mentioned.

A nice mug but...

Date:November 28, 2011
"I've been using it regularly for a few months now and my only real complaint, other than you can't use other tea bags, is that when you pull up the tea bad into it's little compartment, it cuts off the only air intake so you can barely get any liquid out. Still a nice feature though as long as you don't need to leave the tea bag in there the entire time you're drinking."

Where'd My Tea Go?

Date:August 28, 2011
Pros: Easy-to-use Tea Pouch, good customer service
Cons: there was a hole!
"I purchased this mug because I liked the idea of the squeeze concept so you don't over-infuse your tea. When it comes to travel mugs, I ALWAYS hand wash, as I did with this one. After approximately 5uses, I noticed that by the time I prepared my tea and got into the car to drive to work, the level of tea had dropped. I know I didn't spill it, and I couldn't figure it out. This kept happening 2 or 3 times. Did you notice in the bottom of the mug there are 4 little dents, I'm assuming some sort of the manufacturing process. Anyway, one of those dents was actually a hole! It was sucking the tea up into the insulation layer of the mug. If I squeezed the mug, tea would come shooting out of the hole. When I'd shake the empty mug, it'd sound like it was full. I called MLT and they were very apologetic and told me they were sending me a replacement immediately. Good customer service for a "holey" mug."

Had it for almost a year

Date:July 30, 2011
Pros: no spills easy to use
Cons: bottom layer peeled off
"I loved my travel mug. I rarely used it for tea bags, but when I did, it was great. You cant really use it with other brands of tea bags, though. Often the bags would rip or just not fit through the little slit. I doubled up on tea bags of different brands and that seemed to work without them ripping.
I loved the way the mug fit in my hand and the lip is the perfect shape. I never had any spills because of it. But I have had my mug for almost a year, and unfortunately the bottom layer of cushion/foam has started to peel off. I guess the glue isn't strong enough to withstand so much use. I always hand-washed it, so I would just suggest to the manufacturers to use a more hearty substance to fit the bottom piece on. There is a hole that is the opening to the space in between the double walls, so now the bottom becomes very hot and leaks sometimes. Maybe it's time to throw it away :( It was perfect while it lasted.

Loved it until it began to leak!

Date:March 28, 2011
"Would recommend with reservations......I bought one of these for myself and a friend a couple of years ago. I used mine occasionally until recently when, during a terrible cold, I was rarely without my soothing tea. (Normally I use a cup at home but used this cup exclusively during the cold.) Inexplicably, the cup began to leak badly from the bottom, not good when filled with fresh, hot tea. I had never put it in the dishwasher or treated it badly. Seems it should have had a longer life. Loved the design. I will have to check with my friend about hers."

Pros: Easy To Clean
Cons: very slow cooling off
"This is a great mug, overall! It will keep your tea hot, and does a great job doing it! The only down fall, is when you want to drink the tea, the water is still really hot. There really isn't a place for it to cool off unless you either wait a while or take the lid off of the mug."

Not really a travel mug

"I like this mug if I'm not going anywhere. There is no way to close the spout, making it too easy to spill. I've accidentally spilled it several times."

Excellent mug

Date:December 12, 2010
Pros: High Quality, Easy To Use, Easy To Clean, keeps tea hot for 2+ hours, perfect size
"This mug really does the job, and keeps your tea hot for at least 2 hours or more! The opening is made for sipping, which is just right for enjoying tea slowly.
The slot made for holding your tea bag really does work quite well, but make sure to shake the tea leaves down to the bottom corner of the bag before steeping, or you might have a hard time getting the whole tea bag suspended above the water.
This is also excellent if you plan on making more than one cup with the same bag.
I love taking with me to class, since my usual bottle of water gets really boring sometimes!
I definitely recommend this to a tea lover on the go! :)"

Great Gift for the Tea Drinker

Date:October 16, 2010
Cons: don't put in dishwasher too often.
"The fact that this mug can keep your tea from over brewing is huge! I have already given 2 as gifts and received great feed back. Bought 3 more for gifts this Christmas. Only one problem; the black rubber like bottom came off one mug and it became unusable. Finally something special for tea drinkers."
