Customer Reviews for Ti Kuan Yin Select

Ti Kuan Yin Select

Ti Kuan Yin Harvest Select, a high grade chinese oolong tea entirely handmade in China's Fujian province, exhibits a more highly developed fruity sweetness and orchid like fragrance than our other Ti Kuan Yin selection. Named after the Iron Goddess of Mercy, Ti Kuan Yin Harvest Select has all of the prized characteristics one might seek in an chinese oolong tea, including an orchid nose, a complex peach-skin fruitiness and a rich, sweet chestnut flavor.      • 3 oz. loose tea in bag     • 1 rounded tbsp. per 12 oz. cup     • Makes 25-30 cups

Average Ti kuan Yin (green oolong)

Date:March 3, 2012
Pros: Smooth Body, Whole Leaf Tea
Cons: Flat, Weak
"I was disappointed in this "select" quality of Ti Kuan Yin. After using filtered water, checking the water temperature, setting a timer, the tea did not have the floral taste I was looking for. It is a light, pleasant tea, but with little flavor."

Cons: Flat, Weak
"I found this tea acidic, thin, bereft of bouquet and structure. Caveat emptor!"

Magnificant!

Date:August 12, 2010
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Whole Leaf Tea, Unique Flavor Profile, multiple infusions
"This is undoubtedly the best Ti Kuan Yin I have purchased. The aroma alone is fabulous! Smooth bodied, with a truly unique flavor I found the 2nd steeping to be just as delicious as the first. The flavor was intact after having been refrigerated over 24 hours.
I intend to make an Asian Tea Leaf Salad from this Ti Kuan Yin, and fully expect it to continue to tantalize my taste buds.

Great Ti Kuan Yin

Date:October 29, 2009
Pros: Great Aroma, High Quality, Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile, Whole Leaf Tea
"This is a really good chinese oolong. I think one of the other reviewers is confused about chinese oolong and maybe steeped his too long. In general Formosa oolongs are fermented longer and thus closer to a black where this oolong is slightly fermented and slides more toward a green. This means you don't want to steep over 3 mins. I prefer two mins for a greenish oolong and one for most green teas.
If steeped properly, this is a wonderful tea and I've paid two to three times as much on other sites for same to less quality of Ti Kuan Yin."

"I've been enjoying this particular Oolong tea for several years now. I continue to try others, but keep coming back to Ti Kuan. It is definitely worth a taste!"

Ti Kuan Yin Select not too good

Date:March 4, 2008
Cons: Acrid
"This tea should not be marketed as an Oolong. Tastes nothing like Oolong. More like green tea. Really sharp - almost acrid finish was very unpleasant. Missing all the nutty, fruity sweetness of Oolong."
