Fantastic in Banana Smoothies!

Date:October 4, 2008
Pros: Great Aroma, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile
Cons: Bitter
"After becoming a huge Green Tea fanatic, I decided to give Matcha a try. I watched The Karate Kid (kidding) and followed the traditional way of making the very strong tea. And to tell you the truth, didn't care for it much as it was a little too strong for my western tastes. But, I slowly discovered amazing recipes that uses the green powder. My favorite so far is a Green Tea Banana Smoothie.
1 tbs Matcha
2 tbs Hot Water
1 cup Rice Milk (or any milk you prefer)
1 Frozen Banana
few ice cubes if desired.
Mix the Matcha and hot water together and throw everything in the blender for an awesome treat! Very energizing.

Soooo good!

Date:May 21, 2013
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, Unique Flavor Profile
"This Matcha is soooo good. I've been reading about the health benefits of matcha and wanted to start drinking it. For a while I was drinking the Costco (I know, don't judge me) matcha-blend tea bags daily, and would get matcha soy lattes from Peet's once or twice a week. I finally took the plunge and splurged on this matcha (it is pretty expensive). As soon as I opened up the bag, this lovely aromatic scent wafted out. I know this is a bad comparison, but it smelled like a perfumey green tea ice cream. A tiny bit of the powder spilled out as I opened up the bag, so I scooped it up with my finger and tasted the pure powder...barely any taste of bitterness but with a full body of flavor. Delicious. I followed the instructions and made my first cup just using a small metal spoon (no bamboo whisk). I was delighted by my first sip...the texture was thick and creamy, and it had a smooth after-feel in the mouth. The quality of this matcha just tastes superb. Maybe just a hint of bitterness if you use too much powder, but overall extremely aromatic, floral with a great aftertaste. I found the powder easy to dissolve even without a whisk, though admittedly there were some clumps at the bottom of the cup (doesn't bother me because I just eat them up). And, it put me immediately in a calm, alert, and happy state of mind. I highly recommend this! By the way, matcha cured me of my coffee habit, as it no longer appeals to my taste buds anymore."

Cons: Bitter
"it's a little bit too bitter If u drink it alone, but it is a great mate of milk or honey. Try the receipt attached in the box. BTW I still use it alone since I was told it's great for treating acne in this way."

Best Matcha Ever!

Date:September 5, 2012
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body
"This Matcha has the best taste and color that I have even had :) Easy to dissolve and tastes nice. The only things I feel a little bit awkward are it might be better to come with a little spoon so every time I can get the exact amount of tea powder and shipping is a little too expensive if only buying a few items on your website."

"I love this matcha! You need a whisk to avoid clumping. I tried various methods of preparing without a whisk and was unsuccessful, just get the whisk and enjoy."

Mediocre, only use for cooking

Date:November 25, 2011
Pros: good for cooking
Cons: Bitter, lumpy, course
"I've tried semi-high-quality matchas, and this doesn't hold a candle to them. I was hoping to find a work-horse matcha that didn't cost much, but this turned out to be a bad choice.
I'm pretty well practiced in brewing with the traditional matcha bowl with a bamboo whisk, and I could not for the life of me get the texture correct with this tea.
Even with adjusted matcha amount (MUCH less than recommended on the package, about 3/4 tsp per 6 oz water is what I ended up using mostly) and water around 150 F, the tea comes out grainy and a tad bitter. With any less matcha than that, any bitterness is gone, but so is the flavor. Even sifting beforehand, a long, brisk whisking does not dispel the course texture in the last sip. Finer matchas do not have this problem.
So disappointingly, I cannot recommend this matcha. This would best be used in cooking recipes and possibly mixed drinks, but not as a straight bowl of matcha."

Pros: Smooth Body, High Quality
"Love the product. I am a person who cannot tolerate a lot of caffeine because it makes the upper body painful. I found out that Vitamin E helps, but I would prefer the lower caffeine Mighty Leaf. Product also works great for high blood pressure, and calming the spirit. It works great. Keep producing this prouduct."

Decent but needs better packaging.

Date:September 23, 2011
Pros: great price
Cons: packaging is awful
"I brought two bags of this product. I was happy with the price of the product and the general quality. I don't think it's the same grade as Teavana's Imperial Matcha because it's not as brightly colored but then again it's half the price. I did not like the generic cheap pouches the tea came in and the little spoon they threw into the actual matcha powder. You don't want your grubby hands in the powder everytime you want to get some tea. The reason the pouch was bad was because it just had a sticker on it saying matcha. It didn't explain where the matcha came from (which Japanese island) or what was in the matcha i.e. type of tea leaf. Also, because it came in a pouch it's hard to store the tea and keep it fresh. I had to transfer it to tin tea cans. Overall, decent product but packaging needs to be improved."

Well worth the price

Date:September 10, 2011
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality
"This is a great flavorful tea, that has a deep rich flavor. Its quite calming by its self and is accentuated quite well with a little milk or cream. the only drawbacks are that it takes a lot of stirring to mix it well, that is without having clumps left over. and it is such a fine powder that it can get a little messy when dishing it out of the bag it comes in."

"the other MATCHA I use is DO MAtcha...which is stronger in flavor. In truth, I do prefer this most of the time, but when I want something "softer" I use Mighty Tea....you are also less expensive, which doesn't hurt nowadays!"

Yummy!!!

Date:May 31, 2011
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile, versitile
"This was my first experience with matcha, so full strength was a little strong for me. My favorite way is with a little less than 1/4 tsp whisked into 4 oz hot vanilla (sweetened) almond milk. I've also tried it mixed into the chocolate almond milk as a healthier version of hot chocolate. I made my kids homemade pops with a little matcha, organic vanilla yogurt, and frozen bananas. Just blend it up and pour into cups with sticks and freeze. My husband's favorite is a smoothie made with fresh mangoes, frozen banana slices, almond milk, vanilla agave syrup, and 1/4 tsp matcha. The powder is so fine and a little messy to get out of the bag with the included scoop, so I recommend the long bamboo matcha scoop, (unless you want a green hand). If you want the yummy foam on top you should get the bamboo whisk too. The 4 oz bag of matcha seemed like a good value compared to other brands I've priced. I've not tasted the other brands though because this one is so delicious."

Good

Pros: High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile
Cons: clumps won't dissipate
"It is good but find it really hard (no matter how much I wisk) to get all the clumps out of it when making tea. I use a Japanese wisk and wisk in the correct way but still does not remove all the clumps."

Great!

Date:August 18, 2010
Pros: Great Aroma, Smooth Body, High Quality, Unique Flavor Profile
"I won't pretend to be a tea master... in real life I will, but I won't fool anyone here...
This is the fourth brand of Matcha I have tried. Do not be fooled by the price of this tea. This is every bit as good, if not better than Teavana's Imperial Grade Matcha. It has a great taste, texture and foaminess. There is the great feeling you get from drinking Matcha. This tea does not disappoint there either.
I will be drinking Mighty Leaf Matcha every day until they stop selling it. I don't expect that anything better will ever come around, especially for the price.

Thank you for the comparison to Teavanna Imperial Grade Matcha. I was wondering how this one compared.
